Patchwork Passion

Welcome to Patchwork Passion in Onehunga, Auckland. We aim to supply all your quilting needs but do specialise in Japanese, 1840 Reproduction fabrics, Art Gallery Quilt fabrics and hand dyed woollen fabrics. We also stock all the other regular patchwork and quilting supplies and run classes.

Our latest venture is into creating a group for young sewers as opposed to quilters. These are 30 something year old women who want time to sit and sew on various home decor projects, clothes for their little ones, gifts for friends and more. This will be an ongoing area of development over 2010.

My name is Robyn Burgess and I am the owner of Patchwork Passion.  The shop has been open for six years in a little old house in Onehunga. See the photograph below.

My staff is made up of passionate, experienced quilters and sewers who love helping you with your quilt projects.

Customers regulary compliment us on our friendliness and our willingness to go that extra mile for our them.

As mentioned we do have several speciality lines, but also aim to assist you with all your patchwork and quilting needs. We run a comprehensive class programme which actively encourages beginning quilters as well as providing for the experienced quilter. Our fortnightly Gathering Room groups where quilters join us to sit and sew on their latest projects are a very popular feature of our class programme.

We have designed this website to introduce our shop to you. If you would like more details just email us your enquiries or ask for specific photos.

I have been quilting for over 25 years and have been teaching in Wellington, Auckland and nationally for 20 years. My classes have included appliqué techniques, beginners classes, pieced quilts and currently many feature Japanese designs and techniques.  I have exhibited in Auckland on an annual basis and have won awards including one at a national Symposium.

I travel to Japan about once a year to source new ideas, fabrics, bag handles and notions. I am happy to teach for groups or can speak on my trips to Japan and old Japanese textiles.
