Our class programme is organised on a school term basis. The class samples are on display in the shop. If you need help with colour or fabric selection we would love to assist.
Once you have paid your class fee we will give you a needs list for the class.

Squares on Parade Beginners Karen has designed this class for those who would like to make a simple quilt. Join her learn basic quiltmaking skills. She will teach you rotary cutting and accurate machine piecing plus hand or machine applique. You will machine quilt as well. Easy Retro Quilt Join Tricia to make a quick and easy modern retro quilt. This class is designed for those who have never made a quilt before. Learn how to: use a rotary cutter properly to cut fabric, piece accurately, quilt and bind your quilt. You will need to have time available between classes to sew, so that your quilt is almost done by the end of class. Cost: $100.00 including the pattern. Tuesdays 2, 9, 16, 30 November and 7 December from 7.00pm – 9.00pm, except for class 1 that will go until 10.00pm

School Holiday Classes For Teenagers This class is designed for young people who have basic sewing machine skills and would like to make themselves an item of clothing. Last holidays they made Pjyjama pants and we are going to re-run this class on Friday 8 October from 10.00am - 4.00pm. Cost: $50.00 or bring along a friend and pay $60.00 for two. Tricia is planning another project for the September holidays on Tuesday 5 October from 10.00am - 4.00pm. Cost: $50.00 or bring along a friend and pay $60.00 for two.

Disappearing Nine Patch Join Lynne to make this popular quick and easy but very effective design. Choose at least 8 different fabrics plus one strong co-ordinating colour and create Nine Patches cut them up and create a totally new design. During the day you will sew a few 9-patch blocks together to cut up then put back together to get the required design. On Saturday 2 October from 10.00am – 3.00pm. Cost: $60.00 |
Christmas (Or Not) Table Runner
Join Robyn to make a quick and easy table runner. Her sample is in French General reds so it could be used for Christmas or any other time of year as the fabric designs are not Christmassy. It measures 17” by 38” and is part of the Moda Bakeshop series. During the day you will cut, piece, sew and start machine quilting your table runner. Saturday 27 November from 10.00am – 2.00pm. These are groups where you bring along your sewing and sit and sew and catch up with what everyone else is doing. Most groups have a theme or area of interest so you know that you will be inspired by people who are working on similar projects to you. As these groups are on-going some are already fully booked but there are spaces available in several. Staff members are available to assist you with your chosen project. Morning tea or supper is provided at each group.
Japanese Group - alternate Wednesday mornings 9.30am - 12.30pm. Join us to work on your Japanese inspired projects. General Group - alternate Friday mornings 9.30am - 12.30pm. Join us for a morning of sewing, either by hand or machine. Monday Club - What better way is there to start the week than joining a group to sit and sew. from 9.30am - 12.30pm. Thursday Night Quilt Group - Join Di on alternate Thursday nights from 7.00pm - 9.30pm to sit and sew. Art Quilters - Join us once a month to work on your current arty project and gain further inspiration from her and other group members. This is a great way to keep the momentum going with your creative work. We have two of these groups operating – one daytime and one at night. To and From the 1840s Sewing Join Robyn once a month to work on your 1840s projects. Bring along what you are working on or any other interesting things you have found out to share with the group. I will provide you with information each session about quilting in the 1800s and will show you some antique quilts. You might like to join me in creating an 1800s Journal adding in reproduction fabric samples, snippets of information, etc. as we go. Wednesdays from 9.30 – 12.30noon. Dates: 3 February, 3 March, 31 March, 28 April, 26 May. $70.00 for half a year. Second Half Year Dates: 21 July, 18 August, 29 September, 27 October, 24 November $70.00 for half a year.

Gathering Room Classes
These are regular classes run by our experienced tutors. The focus in these groups is on teaching. The tutors will help you increase your knowledge, develop your skills and finish your chosen projects.
Monday Night Sewers Join Karen on alternate Monday nights from 6.30pm - 9.30pm. Choose your own project, come along ready to work on it and Karen will help you achieve a good finish and increase your sewing knowledge at the same time. You might like to leave your little ones at home with your partner or come along to enjoy sewing for yourself, family or home. Term 3 dates – 14 and 28 June, 12 and 26 July, from 6.30pm – 9.00pm. $55.00 for the term Tuesday Stitchers Join Karen once a fortnight to work on your current project. Karen has designed many patterns for us - wool projects, cot quilts, bags, Block of the Months, etc. So if you are short of a project choose one of Karen’s patterns and have her guide you through the techniques needed to complete it successfully. Term 3 dates - 20 July, 3, 17, 31 August, 14, 28 September from 10.00am – 1.00pm. $100 for the term
